Circulation Booster ‘for office workers’
Friday, September 5th, 2008
High Tech Health has unveiled a new device to boost circulation and guard against deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
The Official Circulation Booster, which comes with a 12-month warranty, is designed and developed by health care professionals, the company claims.
According to High Tech Health, the muscle stimulating device can be used for just 30 minutes a day while reading or working to help improve circulation.
Dr Chris Steel, celebrity doctor on ITV’s This Morning, said: " This [the Circulation Booster] helps the muscles to contract."
"This is an excellent idea," he added.
According to the BBC, data released by the Medical Research Institute of New Zealand shows that office workers who spend a substantial amount of time at their desks could be at risk of developing fatal blood clots.
The study revealed a third of patients admitted to hospital with DVT were office workers who spent substantial amounts of time at their computer, the BBC reports.

Edinburgh office workers at their desk for 34 weeks
Friday, September 5th, 2008
A new study by Canon shows that Edinburgh office workers spend on average 34 weeks of their year sitting at their desk.
Edinburgh office workers spend an average five-and-a-half hours a day at their desks, according to the new research.
Canon, the digital camera manufacturer, also found that more than half of office workers in the city work longer hours than they are contracted to do, while a fifth have not considered the health implications of spending so much time at their desk.
Clare Luther, a state registered occupational therapist, said: "Over the last few decades there has been a significant increase in computer work and desk-related tasks where most people are required to sit for long periods of time whilst working."
She claimed that with many office workers spending more than a third of their day in the office it is reckless to ignore the health implications of modern working life.
