New printer ‘ideal’ for offices
Samsung’s latest printer has been described as "ideal" for small firms and home offices.
According to IT consultant Dave Mitchell, the device provides good value for money, with a 16 page-per-minute printing speed for black and white documents and a four page-per-minute speed for colour.
Samsung has said the CLX-2160N is the world’s smallest multifunction colour laser printer, with Mr Mitchell admitting this "can’t be far from the truth."
Writing in PC Pro, the reviewer pointed out that for less than £250 the printer "certainly looks good value."
"Installation is handled sweetly, as the setup utility hunts down the printer on the network and then gets on with loading all the necessary drivers and print-monitoring software," commented Mr Mitchell.
Adding that the USB slot on the machine supports direct printing from inserted devices, the office supplies enthusiast confirmed that documents can also be scanned directly to a USB device.
"Although output quality for the scanner is uninspiring, at this price you won’t get much better," he concluded.
Samsung used this year’s IFA trade fair in Berlin to showcase its latest laser and multifunction devices and declare its aim to take the printer to a "new level of artistic refinement."
